Someone told me to watch the same programme, will try and watch it soon. But it is very true. People going to the gym are told to eat small regular portions, but to consume protein with every meal and get overall 150g-200g of protein depending on size, consisting of aloot of leans meats etc. I have always believed in this.

Now the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) considered meat to be a massive blessing which it is, and did not consume it regularly. He disliked people having more than one kind of meat on their plate. There are no accounts of him ever having touched beef and minimal red meat. Umar (peace be upon him) in his caliphate banned the consumption of meat two days in a row. We now know that that much protein ALL the time has the effects you mentioned above, and that the risk of heart diseases and cholestrol are increased by this.

It is our lack of faith that we even assume that what the Prophet did and what Allah commanded is not for the absolute best of us, physically and spiritually. We shouldn't need science to validate what people have practiced for 1400 years....very inciteful blog, jazakiAllah khair :D Send my salaams to the family!

Tamreez... very well written. For many, merely a reflection of oneself and reminding himself of the purpose of fasting may be a motivation strong enough to set objectives. My wife's in a very similar situation as you, and we've been discussing what an 18 hour fast after a 2 yr gap would mean. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Kind Regards.
