I found your blog on Ramadan and Work very interesting. This is partially from the perspective that my company, and its good to appreciate this personally too. To explain, Multitime, promotes flexible working http://www.multitime.co.uk.

So I can now remember to include this consideration in my own work when talking with companies. Hopefully this could help them to appreciate how some employees, probably quietly, and even with some diffficulty, are having to manage the month of Ramadan, when modest changes to working time procedures can be more acccomodating.

Absolutely, the guidance is signposted all around us and at the same time there are a trillion distractions too. A slight lost of focus and we miss an opportunity to acquire guidance.

I agree taking time out for reflection is helpful, but at the same time we can seek guidance in whatever (productive) we are doing. All it needs I think is attention to detail.

Another interesting verse is Quran (2:26) point to the attention to detail:

“Indeed, God does not shy away from citing the example of a mosquito, or anything above it. for those who believe, they know that it is the truth from their Lord. But as for those who disbelieve, they say, “What does God intend by this as an example?” He misleads many thereby and guides many thereby. And He misleads not except the defiantly disobedient.”

What this verse makes me realize is how little time we spend reflecting. I seem to be rushing all day from one thing to another and even when I do have time, I prefer spending it on something mindless– like watching food shows on tv :P

To really appreciate these ‘signs’ and to understand their significance one would have to spend time in quiet meditation or reflection. I don’t mean hours of locking yourself up, but probably a quiet walk or half an hour of focused prayer would be good…if only we could take out the time.

International politics is a big game and I also do not like discussing politics because it wastes so much energy without getting us somewhere. (I am saying this because I had to suppress many of my thoughts right now regarding the Pakistan situation)

Suffice to say people here in Pakistan are helping a lot to the flood hit people. Young generation is taking advantage of social media to activate people. Good and morale boasting signs of better future.

Unfortunately, Pakistan isn’t one of the glamorous locations (i.e. not a tourist location) This worked against Pakistan during the Kashmir and Baluchistan earthquakes. Now some Pakistanis are not even donating because of corruption. My answer to those people is that can’t you see people need help. You need to make sure you are accountable for where your money goes.

My advice would be to people is that you need to ensure that an organization that you are donating to meets the following criteria:

- Is registered?
- Is approved by your respective government
- Works with local partners
- Provides receipts for your donation
- Will let you know where your money went
- Has low overhead costs (some organizations have admin costs of almost 40%)

To summarize things one needs to donate wisely and make sure you do your homework before you select an organization that you will be donating to.

Thoughtful…midst all the complaining ..and oh why did God have to do this to us? we must also think what we might have done to deserve this? Not that poor man in the straw hut – he was most probably most innocent of us – but ‘we’ as a nation might have done something to deserve such a disaster.

har raat ke baad din shuru hota hai, this is my beleif that all these poblems will make our nation more strong and unite.And this will be the last crisis, InshahAlllah.
Tamreez this is my personal suggestion that you should write articles in the news papers or a book,because your way of expression touch the hearts of people.I am your big fan.
